A Mind Is A Wonderful Thing To Lose

February 27, 2011 By Michele Woodward Leave a Comment

I had this bright idea to offer coaching to anyone in February – first-come, first-served, pay-what-you-want. And now that February has drawn to a close, let me tell you how it went.

Seventy appointments were scheduled. Yep, seventy. And those were all booked in the first thirty-six hours the offer was available. I worked with forty-one people, some of them in two sessions during the month. Most of them were people I’d never coached before.

Which tells me that there are a lot of you out there who’d like coaching, but for some folks it’s price prohibitive. More about that in a moment.

What I learned surprised me. I mean it surprised me yet it was not at all that surprising.

I was reminded that there are so many good and kind people out there.

Five or six or seven times a day, my phone would ring and the nicest people would be on the other end of the line. People confused about what’s next. People sorting out their priorities. People facing crisis. And one lucky S.O.B. who needed help deciding among his four job offers. Yes, you heard me right. I said “four”.

[Who says the economy isn’t in recovery?]

Speaking of which, the finances of this experiment also surprised me. The average client paid about sixty percent of my regular hourly rate. Some paid less, some paid much, much more. But all valued the coaching they received and that was gratifying.

And has led me to create a way that more people can be coached frequently and affordably.

I call it The Club.

In The Club, coaching will be available to any member twice a week in twenty minute increments – just enough time to do some laser coaching and get you clear… and help keep you accountable toward your goals. I’m also creating email content for Club members only, which will include tools and exercises you can do on your own to keep your momentum going. I’ll also share chapters of my new book, and audios of interviews I’ll be doing with smart, successful people who have ideas to share about how you can maximize your potential.

And I’m concentrating on keeping The Club affordable. So, it’s only $66 per month if you sign up before March 7th. After that, the price goes up to $127 per month. Which is still a great deal.

I’m pretty psyched about this, as you can tell.

It’s going to be really fun.

People are going to make progress and get ridiculously clear. I’m going to meet the nicest people – and keep a relationship with them going. How cool is that?

If this sounds intriguing to you, or a no-brainer slamdunk opportunity, sign up today. Let’s get started, shall we?

Just one final thing I have to say. A deep thank you and a wide wave of gratitude to all who took me up on my February offer. You brought your fears, your hopes and your dreams – and shared those with me. A great, great, invaluable gift.

Thank you so very, very much.

Michele Has Lost Her Mind

January 16, 2011 By Michele Woodward Leave a Comment

I just may have lost my mind.

But you know me. I’m curious.

I want to figure out how things work.

I believe Life Is An Experiment.

So I’m experimenting. There’s an idea I want to test.

And I’m going to need your help.

Ready?

In February, I’m opening up my appointment schedule.  If you want coaching, put yourself on the calendar.

And pay whatever you want.

I’m serious.

You decide what the coaching is worth to you. My hourly rate is $250, but you decide what to pay. Yes, you heard me right – it’s your choice.

If you’ve been thinking about giving coaching a try, if you’re a former client who wants a tune-up, if you have a specific something that needs attention – let’s work together for an hour and then you send me a check, or a PayPal payment for whatever amount you feel you want to pay.

I can help you figure out a career dilemma, sort out What’s Next?, begin to maximize your potential, pick your way through a crisis, start to be happier.  Whatever you need coaching-wise, I’ll get you on track.

You know I’m not a lawyer, so you won’t find any small print. Only smallish print:

This experiment only applies to appointments that take place in February on the phone, and it will be first–come, first-served.  You must pay something. This offer is limited to two phone appointments per person in the month of February.  Due to logistics, I’m not able to do in-person coaching with this offer. This offer expires February 28, 2011. If you cancel, you may not be able to reschedule in February.

Because I have a sense that I’m going to be booked.

Why am I doing this?

  1. I am going to learn something(s)
  2. It’s going to be fun
  3. I will meet new people

All things I love.

So the doors open now. My schedule is open.  Want to put yourself in the mix?

Let the fun begin.

Shameless Self Promotion

I Am Not Superwoman

It’s going to be a happy, action-packed fall for yours truly.  Thought I’d give you a sense of what’s on my dance card, and extend an open invitation – join in on anything that appeals to you.  You’re absolutely welcome and I’d love to see you.

September starts off with a bang – my book tour for I Am Not Superwoman: Further Essays On Happier Living. In each city, I’ll be leading a 5 hour workshop using tools and ideas in the book to help all of us would-be Superwomen relax, take a deep breath and craft work and life that matters.  The calendar looks like this:

September 15th – Washington, DC (Chevy Chase) 9:30am – 2:30pm (hosted by Karen Anillo)

September 22nd – Richmond, VA  9:30am – 2:30pm (hosted by Beth Hanna)

September 24th – Atlanta, GA  9:30am – 2:30pm Druid Hills Golf Club (hosted by Laurie Foley)

September 25th – Knoxville, TN  9:30am – 2:30pm (hosted by Jennifer Voss)

October 1st – Chicago, IL  9:30am – 2:30pm (hosted by Dana Frost and Mary Beth Sammons)

October 8th – Annapolis, MD  9:30-2:30pm (sponsored by St. Anne’s School Parent’s Association)

Each workshop offers an autographed copy of my book, five hours of great tools, exercises and learning plus a supportive, interesting group of women to meet and work with.  You’ll get a delicious lunch, too!  $179 for the day in each location.

Additional dates are being planned in Southern California, Houston and New York City.  If you’d like to help, or come, or have other suggestions, please drop me a note.

If you are anywhere close to these cities, I would love to see you.  Come by, will you?  And stay tuned for sign-up information – coming soon!

I also have a wonderful group forming – designed especially for women asking “What’s Next?” I’ve run this program several times before and it’s always a great success for those participating. In a three month process, you’ll work in a small group with other like-minded people – who are all working on discovering What’s Next?

We’ll work on getting clear on your strengths, values, priorities and passions, then take steps to determine how and where you can get more of what you want in your life.

Starting Tuesday, September 14th, we’ll meet every other week at 7pm (EST) in an intensive 90 minute phone conference, where you’ll get great coaching and support from me and from the group.  Dates:  September 14, 28, October 12, 26, November 9, 23. You’ll get: A comprehensive Myers-Briggs Type Indicator™ with a thorough analysis of what it means for you; other assessments, worksheets and tools to uncover the best of you; homework and assignments; email support between sessions; and, the great feeling that comes from working in a group with other like-minded people.

If you’re a coach, or becoming a coach, I’m launching a cool class series with Master Coach Alexis Robin – you’ll learn everything you need to know about creating events, from people who know how to do them.  The largest event I’ve ever planned involved about 250,000 people on the Washington Mall.  Alexis has a rich experience in hotels.  Together, we’ll teach you everything you need to know about using events to grow your business.

And also for coaches, my pal Master Coach Pam Slim and I are offering a Marketing Strategy Intensive October 15 – 16, at the Roger Williams Hotel in NYC.  Working with a high-powered, small group, you won’t just learn how to market your business – no, you’ll walk away with a specific, executable strategic plan.  Don’t miss this one – we have a special guest star coming, too:  Crystal Williams of BigBrightBulb.com will do her magic to make your plan that much better!  More details coming shortly.

Yes, it’s a lot of stuff, but I look forward with enthusiasm – what great people I will see!  What great work we’ll do!  What fun we’ll have.

Join us, won’t you?
