I believe work can be fulfilling.
I believe you can thrive in your career.
I believe now is the perfect time to start your own business.
I believe that risk of authenticity is worth it.
I believe that leaders who replicate their own dysfunctional family dynamic are the biggest threat to a workplace.
I believe in speaking up.
I believe that change is a constant.
I believe that fear is crippling.
I believe that there’s no such thing as “perfect”.
I believe that someone right out of jail without a high school diploma can be a great employee.
I believe that someone with an MBA can be a great employee.
I believe that all great employees need a mentor.
I believe that the simplest solution is the best solution.
I believe that people are generally good, and want to help others.
I believe you never really lose when you make a mistake – you get to learn.
I believe most companies don’t really know how to compensate or incentivize their employees.
I believe some great leaders are born, and some great leaders learn.
I believe that workplaces can become better places.
And that’s why I do what I do.
And you? What do you believe?
Michele, you have nailed many different and vital pieces of the puzzle which, together, create a cogent management philosophy!
Rather than fill your comment box with a screed, I’ll write my own and publish it tomorrow. You have awakened the beast, that’s for sure.
Thanks for this, Michele.
PS – Okay, one note: I believe that the folks who are doing the work to provide whatever it is that the business sells are where the energy and attention of the company should be focused. When they are freed to do what they do well, it serves the customer, the business, and the employees themselves.
Love it! Absolutely delicious food for thought in bite size morsels. If we simply change our beliefs, we can change not only our respective lives. but the entire world!
Michele,
I believe when you listen to your body your food struggles will end.
I believe when you eat and are not hungry, this is an opportunity to learn something about yourself.
I believe when you view exercise as a gift to yourself you will enjoy it.
Thanks Michele, for helping me focus on what I believe.
“I believe that someone right out of jail without a high school diploma can be a great employee.”
That hit home for me. I have a family member who is now a felon due to addiction and the poor decisions that often accompany it. But, I’ve watched him take his recovery seriously and rebound in ways that are phenomenal. I know he has so much to offer the world – esp to offer young men who are on the verge of following him down that same path.
He has humbled himself in incredible ways. He wants the opportunity to get back on his feet, to have a routine and to work. In fact, routine and the pride of working (even if it’s at a local farm or landscaping) are intricately linked to his recovery. To giving him purpose. To assuring him that he can handle what life throws at him in healthy ways.
I wish that more people believed what we do.
Couldn’t stop thinking about this post, so I responded with a post of what I believe on my own site.
